Biomimetic outsole patterns mimic primate grip mechanics
First unveiled in 1996, the famed Air Rift continues to look like something from the future almost three decades later.
Designed with the input of barefoot Kenyan long-distance runners, the Air Rift features a laceless, split-toed design which looks equally at home on the runways as it does on the racecourse. The unique tabi-like design was part of Nike's foray into natural motion running design, with the split allowing for the first and second toes to articular in a way more similar to barefoot runners.
